Government management governance under the leadership of President Prabowo Subianto faces significant challenges, particularly in creating a system that is efficient and responsive to the needs of the people. One of the main challenges is ensuring that policies designed at the central level can be accepted, implemented, and adapted to local conditions in the regions.
Indonesia, with its social, cultural, and economic diversity, requires policies that are not only based on general principles but also have the flexibility to adapt to the dynamics present in each region. The central government must ensure that the policies generated can reach all layers of society, without being hindered by geographical or social barriers in the regions.
Therefore, the key to achieving good governance is strong synergy between the central government and regional governments (Pemda). This synergy is crucial in ensuring that national development goals can be optimally achieved. Sometimes, there are disparities in terms of capacity, resources, and understanding of policies between the two parties.
Some regions may have limitations in terms of infrastructure, budget, or technical capabilities required to effectively implement central policies. Therefore, President Prabowo must focus attention on strengthening the capacity of regional governments and creating better coordination mechanisms to ensure that policies applied in the regions achieve the desired results. President Prabowo’s administration will also face challenges regarding budget efficiency. Large-scale programs, such as the Free Nutritional Food (MBG) program, which aims to reduce malnutrition issues throughout Indonesia, require very careful budget management.
Efficient budget management is essential in running large programs like MBG. The success of the MBG implementation requires strong coordination between the central government and regional governments, as well as appropriate fund management to ensure even distribution and targeting.
This approach aligns with President Prabowo’s vision to modernize the bureaucracy and improve overall government governance, so that allocated budgets can be used as efficiently as possible to achieve optimal results without waste. Therefore, efficient budget management and program implementation like MBG must be accompanied by principles of transparency and accountability.
Transparency allows the public to monitor the use of budgets and ensure that every policy applied can be accounted for. On the other hand, accountability at the regional government level must also be strengthened to ensure that budget and resource use is in line with the principles established by the central government.
Similarly, managing political relations at the regional level is also a challenge that cannot be ignored. Political rivalries between parties or groups in the regions often hinder the implementation of national policies that require cross-sectoral and cross-party cooperation. As a leader with a strong background in both the military and political fields, President Prabowo is expected to create a political climate that supports cooperation between regional governments and the central government.
Building an inclusive political consensus at the regional level becomes important to ensure that central policies can be accepted and effectively implemented. Through intensive communication and constructive dialogue, President Prabowo is expected to reduce potential political tensions and strengthen cooperation among all parties.
At the same time, in running the government, President Prabowo is expected to respect the policies established by previous administrations. This attitude is important for maintaining policy continuity and government stability. While President Prabowo may bring changes in some aspects, respect for existing policies can strengthen the integration between central and regional policies—while giving confidence to regional governments that policy changes do not always mean confusion but rather an opportunity to adapt to a better direction.
Strengthening synergy between the central government and regional governments requires strategic measures, including improving the capacity of regional bureaucracies and better regional financial management. The MBG program, with its large budget and resource needs, must also be accompanied by training for regional officials to wisely manage and utilize the budget.
This capacity improvement will support the achievement of national goals set by the central government. At the same time, the government management governance program must integrate planning and implementation, as well as monitoring and evaluation. This includes socialization to Village Heads, Subdistrict Heads, and their staff to ensure that policies implemented are in line with local wisdom without undermining the common goal.
Thus, good synergy between the central government and regional governments, along with efficient budget management, will create more effective government governance, which in turn can improve the welfare of the people. Therefore, President Prabowo’s administration requires political stability, not only through strengthening coalition parties but also by paying attention to the great power that must be embraced—the people.
Additionally, strengthening social power as a layer of society must be embraced with a pragmatic, firm, and harmonious approach. This way, a balanced life across all layers of society has the potential to bring Indonesia toward greater progress by ensuring that every policy, including MBG, is effectively implemented and provides significant benefits for the people of Indonesia.
